A Gift of Fire; 4.5; 4.6; 3 of last 6

4.5) What questions were used to evaluate computer models?

The main questions that were used to evaluate the computer models were 1. How accurate is the simulation? 2. How reliable is the simulation and 3. How much does it cost?

4.6) What is one simplification in the car crash models? In the climate models?

One simplification in the car crash model was the fact that the computer divided the car up into grid sections, while in real life this is not the case as the car is one entire interconnected object; everything affects everything around it. In the climate model, one over-simplification that was noticed was the fact that the model did not differentiate between day and night, while trends are different for both day and night.

4.25.) An argument in defense of the firefighter is the fact that he was right, and was able to effectively execute the controlled burn without any subsequent problems, and he had sufficient experience to be able override the computer, as his experience counts for just as much as the computer analysis, and in some cases, even more so. In defense of his superior, he did disregard protocol, and the rules established by the fire department, there is no excuse, despite the fact that he has alot of experience, and that he was ultiamtely successful. He broke protocol. You can't allow that or people will get hurt.
